2006 Cheshire Masters

This year's Cheshire Masters was a great success. Unfortunately, the event was a lot more popular than last year and couple with less Dolphins entering we were unable to take the team award. However, all the Dolphins who took part enjoyed it. Some came away really determined for next year. Billy came away with a pot full of medals and County records. Judy Brown & Chris Byrne also set a new Championship record each. But the most impressive result is we have a new county breaststroke champion, not Christian, Chris Byrne or John Lydon but Chris Carter!!!

2010 Cheshire Masters Results

Due to unforseen circumstances Michaela was the only Dolphin lady able to attend the event this year but she was accompanied by 11 gents taking part in a number of individual events and relays.

Each swimmer entering an individual event has to provide an estimate of their time so that they can be placed in a heat with swimmers of a similar ability. Results from all heats are collated and put in to age groups so swimmers are actually competing against people of a similar age.

Despite stiff competition from strong Trafford and City of Chester teams, Dolphins swam well, with some impressive first time swims and two new county records, Dolphins were placed 2nd team overall.

In the 400m freestyle event Billy Dutton and Keith Bosson took 1st places in their respective age groups. Chris Byrne and Christian Wade were both placed 2nd and Michaela was 3rd in the ladies event.

Adrian Moylan comfortably took 1st place in the Novice 50m freestyle event with a great time of 30.84s. No doubt he will be aiming for under 30 seconds when he masters his tumble turns. Rob Waters and Steve Connor also put in creditable performances with their first swims at the event.

Chris Byrne was 1st in the 50m Breaststroke with a time of 36.39s. Great swimming Chris.

In the 100m IM Billy picked up his second gold of the night and Russ Mason took the record previously held by Chris with an excellent time of 1min 9.83secs.

Gerry Kelleher also placed 1st in the 50m Fly with a time of 34.32s.

Billy Dutton earned his third gold of the evening in the 50m freestyle with Gerry Kelleher and Russ Mason both placed 2nd in their age groups.

The evening was rounded off with relay events and after some confusion as to who was actually swimming, Dolphins gents entered two teams in both the 4 x 50m Freestyle and 4 x 50m IM relays. The veteran team of 200+ age group took 1st place in both the IM and freestyle relays and the younger team beat Trafford in the IM event and were second in the freestyle relay.

With some assistance from the ladies of Macclesfield SC, Dolphins also managed to enter a team in the final 8 x 50m mixed freestyle relay.

Billy picked up his final gold of the evening with a new county record for being last out of the changing room.

The evening was rounded off sampling some Robinsons Ales at The Cock just outside Macclesfield. All in all a great night.

2010 Halton Masters

Halton Masters Gala, organised by BLDSA swimmer Frank Kilgannon for Halton SC, is an event which is rapidly growing in popularity attracting swimmers from all over the country.

The only Dolphins representative, Graham Padgett, won all three events he entered in the 60- 64 age group taking first place in the 200m IM (2.58), 100M IM (1.21) and 400m Free Style (5.26). Congratulations Graham.

Hopefully Graham will have a bit more company for this local event next year.

2010 Southport Masters Results

Only a small number of Dolphins attended this event hosted by Southport SC at the smart Dunes Leisure Centre.

Russ Mason, Gerry Kelleher and Owen Griffiths all put in good performances with Russ narrowly missing out on a clean sweep of 1st places, although he can console himself with a comfortable 1st place in the points competition for his age group. (6 points given for 1st place down to 1 point for 6th place).

Great swimming. Hopefully there will be a few more attending next year. The relays at this event are mixed so we will need a few ladies to make up a team.
