Carl Walker to be elected to IMSHOF

Congratulations to Carl Walker (Life Member) who was elected in May to the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame.

Dolphin of the Year

The committee of the Dolphins this year decided that an annual award should be presented to recognise the swimming achievements of our members. It was decided to call the award The Dolphin of the Year.

This year's recipient of the award is Eve Fellows. Eve recently joined the club and has had a fantastic season winning a number of BLDSA events or finishing in the top places at others. She was a member of this year successful, Team Pacific Channel Relay Team, followed shortly after by swimming Windermere and finishing 3rd lady at the age of 16. Her season was capped off by winning the BLDSA Senior Grand Prix Title.

Eve is a worthy recipient, well done.

Enamelled Badges

Any Dolphin upon completing their first 3 mile swim or serves on the committee for two years is entitled to a Dolphins Badge.

Ken Bailey

It is with great sadness that I report the death last week (6/10/06) of one of our predominant members. Ken was President of the Club between 1978 to 1982. He was a speed skater prior to his long distance swimming career. He will also be remembered for his work with the BLDSA particularly as secretary of the Coniston Veterans.
